Official Rules

Effective date: September 1, 2026 · Last updated: September 1, 2026 · CityLot at https://citylot.lol

House rules, not a land office These Official Rules describe how the game works. They are incorporated into the Terms of Service. Paying for a lot does not create a property interest in any real place.

1. Object of the game

Open a city. Forty lots appear on the map in eight color groups. Pay the posted price to put your name and link on a lot. Hold it until someone else pays the steal price. There is no clock. There is no prize other than the listing itself.

2. Inventory

Each city board has forty lots. Color groups are visual sets (The Yards, The Shore, The Heights, Campus, The Core, Midtown, Uptown, Park Place). Owning a full color group is a status display only in this version of the game. It does not change the steal math.

Some cities are pre-seeded. Any other city we can geocode receives a generated board, cached for later visitors. Lot names are game names. They may not match official neighborhood maps.

3. Posted floors

Lot typeExamplesStarting price (USD)
RegularNorth Side, The Flats, Campus, and similar$1
NamedMain Street, Midtown, Waterfront, and similar$5
PremiumBoardwalk, Grand Ave, City Hall$25

Floors apply only while the lot is unclaimed. After a lot is owned, the steal price replaces the floor until the lot is taken again.

4. How a lot is claimed

  1. Select a lot on the city board.
  2. Enter a product URL or X @handle, and optionally a display name, X handle, and note (140 characters).
  3. Pay at least the amount shown on the deed card, in whole U.S. dollars, by card (Stripe), X Money to the handle shown with the unique note, or quoted SOL / BTC / ETH.
  4. When payment is confirmed, the listing replaces whatever was on that lot.

Pending payment notes expire. Unconfirmed payments do not hold the lot. If two people pay, the first confirmed payment we record wins; the other is a support issue, not a second listing on the same lot.

5. Steal

If a lot already has a listing, the minimum steal price is the greater of (a) the current amount plus one dollar and (b) the current amount multiplied by 1.5, rounded up to the next whole dollar.

Examples: $1 becomes $2. $25 becomes $38. $100 becomes $150.

The previous listing is removed from the lot. The previous payer is not refunded, credited, or paid. Clicks on the old listing reset. That is the war rule.

You may pay more than the minimum. The new current amount is the amount you bid, and the next steal is calculated from that amount.

6. What may appear on a lot

Chat and invite links (including Telegram, WhatsApp, and Discord invite hosts) are not allowed. We may remove spam, malware, illegal content, or listings that violate the Terms or payment-processor rules.

Visitors who click a listing leave CityLot via a redirect that counts a click. Those clicks are public on the board. They are not a promise of traffic.

7. What you are not buying

You are not buying land, a legal deed, a trademark in a city name, exclusive advertising rights in that city, search ranking, or a share of CityLot. You are buying a display slot that another player can take by paying the steal price.

8. Conduct

Play through the site. Do not attack the servers, spoof payments, or harass people over a lot. CityLot may hide or remove listings that break these Rules or the Terms.

9. Changes

We may add cities, change unclaimed floors, or ship later features (for example house/hotel upgrades) by updating these Rules. Steal math for an already-owned lot follows Section 5 unless a Rule change is required by law or to fix a defect.
